Welcome to the Lynxx Fiberhood!

It's a big job to bring our fiber network to new communities.

Here's an overview of the process:

First, we bury mainline fiber, which is the fiber that runs along the main roads. Mainline is typically placed in the right-of-way. Since fiber cable runs underground, we utilize plowing, trenching, or directional bore techniques to get it there, which involves some big machinery.

If you have given us permission to bury / signed up for a fiber connection (aka a "drop"), the locators will come out to the areas where Lynxx is burying fiber to mark any underground lines such as: gas, electric, other telecommunications, etc. Flags and markings need to remain in place; workers will remove them when it is safe to do so.

The "drop" is what we call the fiber that is spliced from our mainline and buried in a trench to your home. The fiber is then connected to a grey shell that’s attached to the outside of your home and serves as the transition point for the fiber as it goes from outside to inside the house. When it’s time to run the drop to your home, our contractors will get in touch with you to go over where the line will be placed and if there are things in the yard to avoid (i.e. underground dog fence, sprinkler systems, etc.)

After the drops are run in your neighborhood our contractors have work to do before we can connect your home for service. The cabinet (think of it as the brains of the operation in your neighborhood) has to be set, programmed, and fired up. We also have to splice fiber in multiple locations along the path between the cabinet and your home. Once the fiber is spliced, and equipment in place, we have to test everything to make sure there are no weak links in the chain. We run the drops as early as we can so when all the work is done, we can connect you for service as soon as we possibly can.

When you get an e-mail from us saying it's time to order services, you'll go online and choose your internet, tv, and phone, and then schedule your installation date and time. On that day, a technician will come to your home to connect the outside ONT equipment to the router and devices in your home and make sure everything is up and running as it should be.

If I want service, do I have to sign up?
Yes! If you want Lynxx Networks service you MUST sign up for a fiber connection. Signing up for service simultaneously gives our company and our contractors permission to go on your property and bury fiber to your home. You can sign up for service by clicking here. Signing up for service now does not commit you to taking certain services - choosing internet, voice, and TV options will occur at a later date.

Is the fiber connection free?
Yes - while we are constructing our network, the fiber conection to your home is free. If you are interested in having Lynxx service now or in the future, we advise you to sign up for the fiber connection NOW. Once your neighborhood is ready for service you can apply for services and schedule your installation date at your convenience. If you don't take the fiber connection now, but decide you want our service in the future, there may be a connection fee.
Did you know?

Studies have found that high-speed fiber broadband services, with 1 Gbps or higher download speeds, can add more than $5,400 to the value of an average home in the United States. This added value can raise the value of your home by more than 3 percent.

Area Updates

City of Mauston

All of our mainline (the fiber along the main roads) is buried in the City at this time and the constsruction crews have also run all the requested drops at this time (the fiber that connects the mainline to homes). Our staff will continue to bury fiber to homes and businesses as we receive requests for service.

We divided the City into six zones for this project and four zones have already opened for service. The remaining two zones, which are both located to the north of Riverside Park, have yet to open. We don't have firm dates, but we are anticipating at least one of these remaining zones will open before the end of 2024 and the final zone will open in the first few months of 2025.

If your home is in an open zone or in a zone that's about to open for service, you'll be getting / will have received an e-mail stating that you can apply for service and schedule your installation date. If you haven't received this e-mail yet, don't worry! We're still working and we'll get to your zone as the work progresses. If you have questions about whether your zone is open you can always call us at 608-427-6515.

Please keep in mind that this is a big construction project and with construction comes mess. While it will be messy, we promise to clean up after ourselves. Sometimes our contractors have to leave an area and come back to clean things up, but don't worry - they will return. If you have concerns about construction-related issues in your yard, please contact us at 608-427-6515.

If you are interested in our service, but haven't signed up, do so now. The fiber connection is free and signing up puts your name on our construction list, and gives our company and contractors permission to bury fiber on your property.

To connect the school to our existing network, the fiber was run down County Road G to County Road O, to the Village. Residents and businesses along the blue fiber route to Warrens, as shown on the map, are now able to have Lynxx Networks services. We sent out a letter notifying of this; everyone on the fiber route should have received one by now.
